The London Borough of Barnet was formed in 1965 under the London Government Act 1963. The Borough covers 33.5 square miles and has a population of 331,522 (Office of National Statistics, 2008). This is the second largest population of the 33 London boroughs. Barnet's population has risen at a steady rate and is likely to rise even faster over the next decade.
